MontelloLand.com buys and sells off-grid property in the greater Montello, Nevada region. My name is Preston and I am the single owner of this land company venture. The love story between Montello and myself follows below. If my story resonates, give me a call or shoot me a text and brace yourself for enthusiasm. I love this high desert country!

In the Winter of 2008, Montello abruptly burst into the field of view. The internet browser returned insanely affordable land in some remote corner of Nevada. Only 2.5 hours away from home base near Salt Lake City, Utah. Ten acres for under $10,000! This was quite literally unbelievable and I was calling B.S.! After three months of researching the area, chatting with local bloggers for concrete data, and setting realistic expectations, the wheels on the truck were turning and Montello was dead ahead.

I rolled into the area determined to narrow five potential parcels of high value, internet beautiful land down to one standout purchase. One piece was submerged by recent rain water, the next a dust bowl, another impractically remote, and the fourth was disqualified for its steep grade. Luckily, the fifth met all of my criteria. The land decision made, we headed to town for a cold beverage and burger at the Cowboy Bar. A few people were met, including one of the bloggers, and Montello already began to feel like home.

Char, a wonderful woman with an amazing smile and apt for selling property, agreed on a sale price and I was suddenly TEN acres deep in high desert dreams! Work began by finding the property corners (montellosurvey.com). Next, some excavation created a hole and a shipping container delivery ensued (bigwidebox.com). Then thoughts of propane, water, solar, wind, and I’ll be damned if I wasn’t off-grid!

After the dust settled, I found myself helping a distressed neighbor with an immediate need to sell their property. Another day, a stranger walked into the Cowboy Bar offering to sell the land they had never seen, couldn’t find, and had no interest in doing so. Rinse, wash, repeat a few times and I was soon land rich and cash poor. It was time to sell!

I’ve never fancied myself a salesman. But, I do enjoy helping folks solve problems, especially when the smiles are so big on the backside! Cash, credit cards, and owner financing are all agreeable. Terms are flexible. The property is real. The dream of high value land ownership at dirt cheap pricing is alive!
